I don’t know if this technically qualifies as a smoothie – maybe slushy would be a better description?
Regardless, if you like tart, healthy drinks, this one’s for you. We love it around here!
What you need:
- 1/2 a pineapple, chopped (including the core)
- couple handfuls pomegranate seeds – here’s how I open the pomegranate without a huge mess.
- a few handfuls ice
I make this in my Vita-Mix , but any heavy duty blender would probably be just fine.
Put the ingredients in the Vita-mix in the order listed above, turn it on variable 1 and then quickly turn it up to high 10. Blend a couple of minutes, and use the tamper until everything is nicely blended.
Drink in the wonderful vitamin C, vitamin B1, and potassium from the pineapple and more vitamin C, vitamin B5, and beta carotene in the pomegranates. YUM!

This must be wonderful with sweet, ripe pineapple. I’ll have to keep my eye on our local produce section.
Yum! thanks!

Looks delicious! We drink a lot of pomegranate lemonade in the summer. I never thought to add it to a smoothie. Thanks for sharing!
