I won the Versatile Blogger Award!

Many thanks to Michelle from Michelle’s Little Piece of Heaven for Awarding me the Versatile Blogger Award! I’m thrilled to get this fun award. I can’t believe the number of people who have found their way to my little blog. I heart blogging! I’m so glad you read my ramblings. Thank YOU!

Here are the RULES for the Versatile Blogger Award-

1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
3. Mention seven random things about yourself.  (see below)
4. List the rules.
5. Award to 15 bloggers.
6. Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.

Seven Random Things about Me:

1. I’m a major procrastinator – which is why it has taken me since Feb 8 to formally accept this award! {sorry, Michelle…}

2. My Dad was in the Army Corps of Engineers and my husband spent 10 years in active duty service with the Air Force. Because of that, I have lived in 8 states (Washington, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, California, Arizona, Colorado, and Iowa) and 3 countries (USA, Germany, and Japan) and have visited more foreign countries than US states.

3. I learned to speak German when I was 7 years old and consider myself bilingual and half German at heart.

4. I am a city girl learning to live a country life. I love gardening, preserving food, and dream of someday {very soon} having my own flock of chickens, a cow, and maybe some horses. We are working hard to move out to our 5 acres and barn.

5. I am one of the most politically conflicted people you will ever meet. My husband {a political scientist} says I just don’t add up.

6. I say I want an Easy Button, yet I seem to do everything the hard way: cooking from scratch, birthing babies at home, cloth diapering, recycling things I have to take in, homeschooling my kids… Who has an Easy Button for all of those things?

7.  My high school class awarded me with the Prettiest Smile Award even though I was a complete introvert in high school.  AND my 20 year reunion is THIS FALL! ACK!

I am awarding these lovely blogs the Versatile Blogger Award:

1. A Life in Balance – Barb always has great posts about life in Philly and I love her balanced approach and wit in blogging.

2. Butterfly Birth – Chantal is one of my dearest friends in real life. We are kindred spirits. I love the topics she touches on in her blog. I only wish she would see fit to move to my commune in Iowa instead of insisting on living in Florida. Jeesh.

3. Premeditated Leftovers – I love Alea’s blog. She is very friendly and co-hosts a fun link-up I love on Tuesdays called the Hearth and Soul Hop! :-)

4. Thrifty Crafty Girl - Priscilla’s got great crafts and her posts always crack me up. Plus,  she doesn’t live too far away from me in real life.

5. The Pagan Family – Melanie is a crazy, tattooed, belly-dancing midwife – and friend of mine in real life. She’s does great crafts with her wonderful, over-sized family and talks about topics a lot of bloggers don’t. I’m glad she’s my friend and I love that she is not afraid to be REAL.

6. An Oregon Cottage – Jamie’s also got great crafts, delish recipes, and a wonderful Tuesday Garden Party! If you garden, you’ll definitely want to head to her blog on Tuesdays.

7. Stealthy Mom – Laura is another Iowa blogger I’m glad to have connected with recently. She’s passionate about eating locally and also has a lot of great recipes on her blog.

8. Saucy Kitchen – Jess’s posts crack me up as well. And she has some great organizing tips and beautiful photos – not to mention a lot of gorgeous sounding recipes!

9. Making Lemonade – Carrie has a gorgeous blog – she takes great pictures, has lots of awesome crafts and super cute kids. What more could you want?

10. Emma & 3 – I recently connected with a few hilarious British bloggers through an unfortunate hip dysplasia connection. I hope Brits are eligible for the Versatile Blogger Award…

11. Northern Mummy with Southern Children – this is another hilarious blog written by a British mom. I’m so glad to have connected with these lovely people – I just wish it wasn’t because our children all need hip help.

And that’s it. The 15 rule seems a bit excessive to me – I’d rather give you 15 odd facts about myself. :-) Congrats to these women: You are my favorite bloggers.
