Annie’s Homegrown Rising Crust Pizza ~ Review & Giveaway!

Congrats to comments #21 & 21 ~ 2 Jessicas won the coupons.

Please check your email for instructions!

Moms Meet and Annie’s recently agreed to send me a box of “pizza.” But before I got the pizza, I got an email saying DON’T PUT THE BOX IN THE FREEZER. It was so realistic looking that other people who got them rushed to put the boxes in the freezer. Instead of a pizza, though, it contained 4 coupons for FREE pizza. I’ve heard of stores refusing coupons before, but never because they weren’t frozen. :-)

Anyhow, I was excited to get my pizza and try it out – frozen pizza isn’t something we have very often because of all the yucky ingredients, but Annie’s Rising Crust Pizza promises no nitrates or nitrites and is 100% organic. I’ll give it a shot! Sadly, the only place to buy the pizza right now, though, is Whole Foods. And the nearest Whole Foods to me? FOUR HOURS away. Sorry, not driving 4 hours for a free frozen pizza. I do have my limits!

So, what’s any self-respecting blogger to do? Enlist help!! I contacted my great friend, Chantal, and she reluctantly agreed to be my guinea pig. So I sent her one of the coupons and she bought her pizza! And just as I suspected, the coupon was not refused even though it wasn’t frozen… {sorry…sad little attempt at humor.} ;-)

Following is Chantal’s family’s review of

Annie’s Homegrown Rising Crust Pizza {My comments in brackets}:

We went to Whole Foods today and picked up some Annie’s Homegrown Rising Crust pizza. They had cheese, pepperoni and supreme, and we chose supreme. I liked that it didn’t have any artificial colors or flavors and no added nitrates or nitrites. We’re already familiar with a number of Annie’s products – we love the burritos, soups and cheddar bunnies especially – so we looked forward to trying this pizza. {That box is just like the one I got in the mail. See why people were confused?}

Now THIS is how I like to cook! :-) {And clearly she is great friend – note that glass of wine – a requirement for fine cooking…}

Here we have the before picture. Good number of toppings; not skimpy like you sometimes get!

Pizza close-up. Despite my best efforts, I still managed to burn some edges of some pepperoni slices. Looks yummy. Smelled good!

Liam, PI ( the Pizza Inspector ) {They live in Florida so it’s ok to eat without shirts in April…}

Even Madigan, who is not a fan of pizza, ate a slice!

The after picture.  All gone!  :)

Andrew said it was tasty and he’d have it again. Liam said it was good. Madigan said it was OK (which for her is pretty good when it comes to pizza). It did have good flavor, but I thought the crust was a little doughy. Small price to pay for not having to cook! :) Maybe if I did the crispier baking method, it might have been a little less doughy.

Thanks so much, Chantal, Andrew, Madigan, and Liam for buying, trying, and reviewing that yummy looking pizza. This post made me really, really hungry.

I have TWO more coupons for FREE PIZZA – which means TWO people will get one! For your chance to win, all you have to do is leave a comment letting me know which one you’ll try! I’m getting mine next week when we go to Chicago! You might want to have a Whole Foods nearby…since I’m not sure when other retailers will carry these yummy looking pizzas.

This giveaway is open to anyone who can shop at Whole Foods and closes at midnight on May 1. I will draw the winners via random.org on May 2 and notify them by email. The winners will have 2 days to provide me with a mailing address or I will choose a new winner.

  1. We would love to try an Annie’s Pizza. We would go for the pepperoni around here although I am partial to supreme.

    Ruby in Central Iowa who gets here WF this summer.

  2. Melissa Cervone says:

    I would love to try the cheese pizza.

  3. We definitely want to try these!! Probably just the straight up pepperoni for my kids :) . We live in Michigan and my kids both think it is perfectly acceptable to eat without shirts on…

  4. WOW! I love Annie’s products and am so glad to see this frozen pizza! I very rarely buy frozen pizza because of everything that’s in that I have no interest in eating. I’d love to give the pepperoni one a try and see for myself how it is. :)

  5. michelle says:

    The pizza looked good. It’s nice to have friends to help you out

  6. We would probably opt for the Supreme, but if I were buying it for myself, I would get the Spinach and Mushroom – it looks divine!!

  7. Maryann D. says:

    I would pick cheese. Thank you.

  8. I’ve been wanting to try these. We would get the cheese.

  9. We use and enjoy Annie’s products for the same reasons that you and Chantal do, but we don’t have a Whole Foods anywhere even remotely close, so no need to include me in the pizza coupon giveaway. I sure do wish they would open one near us. (sigh…) It was nice to get the scoop on it though, just in case a store in our area does start carrying it. Thanks to Chantal and her family for the review and thank you for the sharing it, Michelle! Have a great weekend!

  10. Because of a picky eater here, we’d probably try the cheese. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

  11. I’d love to try a Annie’s Pizza!

  12. We would choose the pepperoni and do have easy access to Whole Foods. The biggest downside for us is that frozen pizza is really not an economical option because it takes 2 to feed to our big family. But it surely is a treat when we do have it.

  13. I’m only 2.5 hours from a Whole Foods Grocery…good thing too as Dave used to say, “whole paycheck” and he could burn through some money in that fabulous store. Pepperoni is always a good option, the more meat the better! Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

  14. Supreme please

  15. I’ll try the Four Cheese.

  16. Sounds like a good option for a quick dinner. Always better when the ingredient are organic. I’d love to try one and I’m lucky enough to live within 10 minutes of about 3 different Whole Foods!!

  17. mmmm, pizza! I would usually go for spinach and mushroom but all my fam loves pepperoni, which they never get because of the yucks! But uncured organic pepperoni sounds fantastic! We’d love to try that!

  18. the supreme pizza

  19. I have picky eaters, but will probably try the pepperoni. Thanks for the offer.

  20. I would get the pepperoni and we do have a Whole foods nearby. Thanks! hickenfam at hotmail dot com

  21. Jessica Peeling says:

    I would try the cheese! I know that we have Annie’s products at our local grocery store. Thanks for the opportunity. :)

  22. I’m thinking the supreme!

  23. Jessica N says:

    Hmm, if my son chooses we will probably get the cheese pizza. If I choose it will be the spinach and mushroom!
