Family Foto Friday ~ 6/22

To welcome summer’s arrival, the kids and I took a nature walk around our property to see what we could find. We started off down the lane Level B Service Road} that leads from our small acreage and is usually torn to shreds by inconsiderate teenagers who like to go mudding in their trucks. I love this road, though. I have a thing for tree lined lanes. I know, I’m weird…

Here are some of the things we found.

Ditch Lilly

Black raspberries ~ I was hoping to find a bowl full, but did not. I love the picture of Sara screaming “All gone!” translation ~ “Get me more, now!”

Ben found a nest of baby birds and was excited when Moma bird arrived back to her nest and squawked at the kids for looking at her babies!

I found a cicada on my Black Aztec corn. Ben was enthralled and wanted to keep it as a pet. YUCK!

It was a fun way to spend an hour and is one way our kids learn a lot about the world around us. I love that we are able to spend leisurely time doing things like that.

Happy Friday!

Gorgeous photos! Ditto on the cicada – yuck!

  2. I think cicadas are cool and pre-historic looking. It is sad, though, that they spend so long underground only to surface, mate and die in such a short time. Your son’t won’t have his pet very long.
