5 Minute Grammar Lesson ~ Desert? or Dessert?

Confused by DESERT and DESSERT?  They don’t sound that much alike, but the spelling is quite similar, isn’t it?

Remembering the difference is really quite easy. I still remember my 5th grade teacher telling us that we almost always wanted seconds on our DESSERT – hence the two Ss. YUM – chocolate, ice cream, berries, tiramisu, cheesecake, cookies…I’m drooling thinking about all of my favorite DESSERTS. Of course I want seconds!!

I personally don’t want to get stuck in a DESERT without water {even once}, so there’s only once S.

Easy peasy, right?

Next time you’re stuck in the DESERT without any DESSERT, you’ll thank me for this spelling lesson. :-)

  1. That’s a cute way to remember the difference in spelling! That’s like me remembering how to spell “separate” by saying there is “a rat” in it. :)
