Family Foto Friday & UNREAL Candy ~ Review

The nice folks at UNREAL Candy recently sent me a box of their delicious candy to try out through the Healthy Child, Healthy World blogger network. I was especially excited to try it because their candy contains NONE of the bad ingredients I like to avoid: it’s GMO free, hydrogenated oil free, corn syrup free, and artificial color and flavor free. I’ve never heard of a candy free from all of those things before.

So, what does this candy have in it, if it’s missing all the normal candy staples? Good question. I wondered the same thing! UNREAL says they have replaced the junk ingredients with real cane sugar, real milk, more peanuts, and twice the cacao.

And guess what? It actually TASTES GOOD! Look at this gorgeous candy. I love the more natural color:

I also love that UNREAL candy is sold for the same price as “bad” candy at regular stores like CVS, Michaels, & Walgreens – and it’s coming to Target in October!

And I really love how they answer this question: Is UNREAL™ a “healthy” candy? Because, let’s get real here. Candy is a sometimes treat – not an everyday staple {or it should be}: “We don’t consider candy to be “healthy” for you. It’s a delicious treat that we love. What we’ve done is give people a better choice, so that when they go looking for candy, they have the option to avoid the junk.”

We put UNREAL candy to the test and my willing taste testers LOVED it. Of course, they love about anything that’s full of sugar and labeled “candy…” Unfortunately, the candy arrived on one of the hottest days we’ve had out here in Eastern Iowa and it was a tad melted…so the pictures don’t really do it justice. But I love any pictures of my kids, so here you go anyway!
