Moms Meet and SoftCup sent me a box of their feminine hygiene products a while back. A big goal of mine this year is to reduce the amount of trash my family generates so I am interested in alternatives to the standard fare for protecting our clothes during this delightful time of the month.

Softcup-package-001

SoftCup is:

• A greener, simpler alternative to tampons and pads that can be worn for up to 12 hours.
• A flexible cup that’s worn internally around your cervix, Softcup works by collecting rather than absorbing menstrual flow. Because of its special design, one size fits almost all women.
• You won’t feel Softcup while you’re wearing it, and can enjoy any activity, including swimming, sports, sleeping and mess-free intercourse.
• NOT linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) and does not cause dryness or irritation. It’s hypo-allergenic and latex-free.
• A Softcup 14-pack retails for $8 to $10; a reusable Softcup 2-pack retails for $6.19.

I was encouraged to try SoftCup for an entire cycle before judging it and I gave it my best effort {but I actually used it for part of two cycles instead of one entire cycle}. When I first pulled one of the cups out of the package, I initially thought it was HUGE. I am an OB gal, personally, and like how tiny OBs are. I had a hard time getting the SoftCup inserted properly the first few times and had quite a lot of leakage initially. I did finally get the hang of it, but honestly, I prefer my little OBs.

I would really like to try the reusable version of SoftCup, however. I might be persuaded to go for something that helps meet my goal of producing less waste {and saving money in the process}. So I am on the lookout for the resuable pack to try!

I also shared SoftCup with some of my mom friends. A few of them had used SoftCup before and were very positive about it! Everyone likes that it’s not linked to TSS and that it’s hypo-allergenic and latex-free, all very good characteristics of feminine hygiene products.

If you’re interested in trying out SoftCup, you can buy them at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Kroger, Fred Meyer, Price Rite, Shop Rite, Harris Teeter, Wegmans, Duane Reade, Harmon, and Raley’s, as well as online at softcup.com or kiwishoponline.com.

Or, you can win a 14 pack of your own right here, at SimplifyLiveLove! SoftCup would like to give three of my readers the chance to try out a 14-count box of SoftCup free of charge!

To enter, simply comment on this post and enter via the Rafflecopter form below! Giveaway ends at midnight on January 15 and is open to US residents 18 years of age and older. Winners will have 48 hours to provide mailing address or new winners will be chosen.

  1. I love the fact it is greener and reusable, so it saves money too.

  2. I’m a Diva Cup girl myself, but this is interesting. Never heard of it. So you dispose of it after 12 hours?? What is it made of?

  3. that it can be worn for up to 12 hours!

  4. I love my Diva Cup, but this might be a solution for those rare public restroom moments when I cannot get private access to a sink.

    • I’ve heard of Diva Cups but am not really familiar with them. Do you need private access to a sink to empty them? This would be an alternative then, because you can simply toss it in the garbage.

  5. kirsten perez says:

  6. I like that its green

  7. Debbie ritenour says:

  12. Lucky their soft!

  13. Samantha D. says:

I like that their better for the planet by reducing pad/tampon waste. I hate the feeling of putting more stuff in the landfills. Plus not having to to constant bathroom “checks” and changes throughout the day. Especially when i’m out and about. Would love to try these and see how they hold up especially through activities like horseback riding, biking, hiking or kayaking. Can you wear them swimming?

  14. Maria Kiguthi says:

I am interested in trying something new. I haven’t tried this type of protection before.

  15. I would be interested that it doesn’t cause irritation.

  33. I had never heard about products like this until very recently, I am interested in trying it. I like that it can be worn for 12 hours but wonder if that would be the case if you had a heavy flow. I’m interested in trying something other than pads. I don’t like to use tampons all the time, only when my flow is heavy as they irritate me sometimes, so I’m interested in trying this, like the disposable ones because sometimes you don’t have access to a sink like when traveling and public restrooms, etc….but if it works well for me, I’d like to use the reusable ones. Thanks for the chance to win,
