These easy cheese biscuits go great with budget friendly homemade soup. Learn how to easy they are to make from scratch with this recipe.

Easy Cheese Biscuits An easy way to reduce my grocery budget is to serve soups – they’re a great use of leftover meat and veggies, and since it’s pretty easy and free to make bone broth out of ingredients I already have on hand, soup is just a cost effective way to manage budget meal prep. As much as I like to serve soups, though, my family often rebels. Please tell me I’m not the only one whose family thinks they deserve more for a meal than soup? Serving nice and easy cheese biscuits along with soup is a popular way to turn a not so favorite meal into a better one.

easy cheese biscuits I use a large scoop to measure out biscuits on my Cuina baking mat. I’ve been wanting to try out a silicone baking mat like this for ages and am so pleased with the end result! I wonder why I waited so long to get a nonstick, silicone baking mat. Drizzle a mix of  butter and garlic on the biscuits.

A yummy cheesy biscuit that resembles Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Perfect accompaniment to soups and stews.

Prep Time 6 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour {I use freshly ground soft white wheat}
  • 1 TBS baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 TBS melted butter
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients and add milk and cheese.
  3. Drop large dollops on a silicone baking mat.
  4. Mix garlic and butter and pour over biscuits.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Enjoy!

Notes

A note about freshly ground flour - if you use freshly ground flour, you might want to weigh it for better results. I used 9.4 ounces of flour and then added in a little bit more at the end because I thought the dough looked too wet. Don't be afraid to make adjustments based on how the dough looks. You don't want the dough to be too wet or too dry and I have learned to weigh out the flour the hard way after years of baking almost exclusively with freshly ground flour.
