Best tasting tomatoes from 2016 garden

My Favorite Tomatoes from 2016

I am always swayed by the beautiful tomatoes and their lovely descriptions in the seed catalogs. Last year I grew several varieties that I thought were really delicious and I thought you might like to know. My favorites were the Tomato Solar Flair, Tomato Carbon, and Tomato Blue Beauty. I also really enjoyed the Chocolate Pear Tomatoes! They grew well and I thought their tastes matched my expectations from the seed catalogs. 🙂

The Pink Brandywine were also quite good, and I grew Sungold Select II, Wapsipinicon Peach, and Ten Fingers of Naples last year too. Trying new tomatoes is always fun, and so I bought several new varieties to grow this year that I cant wait to taste. I’ll also grow my favorites from last year too, and some sort of Roma.

2017 Garden Seed Purchase – From Baker Creek Seeds

I have a lot of seeds left over from last year that I will also choose from, but I always like to try more fun seeds and this is what I got this year. I have grown the Jing Okra before and liked it a lot, the rest will be new to me plant varities.

Garlic

Seed garlic for garden 2017

Baker Creek also sent a bunch of seed garlic earlier in the fall that is already planted in my garden. I planted more garlic than I’ve planted in the past and I love the varieties they sent. I can’t wait to see how it does. For garlic I planted: German Red, Kay’s Backyard, Elephant, Russian Giant, Chamisal, Bulgarian Hanuan, Morrocan Creole,  and Inchelium Red.

Seed Potatoes from Seed Savers

And finally, I ordered seed potatoes from Seed Savers Exchange. I really love growing potatoes. Hopefully they do well. I’ve grown all of these varieties before and they usually do quite well for me. I plant potatoes using the no-dig method and love it.
