Real Food Recipes for Weight Loss – Review & Giveaway

I first came across Jami’s blog An Oregon Cottage several years ago – I remember finding it through Money Saving Mom and instantly connected with Jami’s recipe and gardening posts. She’s a lady after my own heart – a lover of eating and growing her own food – and she travels! Food, gardening, traveling are three of my favorite things so when Jami asked me to share her new ebook with my readers I quickly agreed! Today I’m excited to tell you about Jami’s ebook called Real Food Recipes for Weight Loss.

Tips for Weight Loss

Jami sent me a copy of her book to review and has agreed to give one PDF copy away to one of my readers as well. I know you’ll enjoy reading her book – it’s a very quick read and includes 18 real food recipes for weight loss. Jami thinks, and I agree, that portion size {and eating real food} is the biggest obstacle many people face when trying to lose weight. She shares her own story of weight loss and encourages people to eat what they want – as long as portions are small and the food is healthy!

Recipes

Jami’s recipes include main dish meal ideas for chicken, beef, seafood, and slow cooker recipes. They use common staple ingredients, for the most part, and easy to follow instructions. I can’t wait to try her recipe for Sausage, Bean and Greens Gratin! I happen to have a garden full of greens and this recipe is on my list of meals to make!

Sadly, cooking seems to be a forgotten art in the US.In Germany where I grew up, families really spent a lot of time together in the kitchen – prepping veggies, cooking mouthwatering food, and then spent hours at the table savoring the fruits of their labor. I understand how easy it is to throw cooking to the wayside in my own hurried life – but I really believe if US families spent more time together in the kitchen and at the dinner table rather than rushing kids to and from activities, we would live in a better, and healthier, place.

If you aren’t sure how to start cooking real food – try Jami’s book. Her recipes are easy to follow and delicious. I know you’ll like them even if you aren’t trying to lose weight.

I would love to try the Sausage-Bean Soup with Spinach and Tomatoes. And with it being a crock pot meal, that’s even better.

Just one? Seriously? I would like to try the Shrimp and Asparagus over White Bean Puree. My husband would love the Sausage with Roasted Onions and Peppers. And I am sure the BBQ sauce for the mini meatloaves is homemade, mmmmmmm…I have followed Jami’s blog for a while too. She lives near where I grew up, so it is like visiting home when she talks about her gardens.
